Never really needed to spend much thought on health insurance… UNTIL NOW… *whimper*. You really get accustom to the company paying for most of the insurance. While working all I needed to do was pick the type of deductible.
Now searching for health insurance and plans, I realize, there are millions of different options! There are non-insurance plans as well! Those are called “group medical sharing plans”. Who knew!?! Right about now my mind starts to explode… *boom*!
At PTC, I picked a pretty low deductible. Now, it is necessary to consider the high cost of health insurance. We will be mainly choosing to cover catastrophic events. Basically meaning covering medical expenses higher then $5,000-$10,000+ worth. Those are the types of incidents that put someone in debt for a long time!
We also want to be responsible with the money people will be donating to help support us in Haiti. It is important to use the money wisely and to be as frugal as we can but yet have reasonable enough coverage.
Thankfully Heartline has doctors and nurses that are available which makes it convenient for figuring out the small/medium sized issues.
Lots to research before my one month of insurance runs out.
